January 21 - 25

This past week in humanities students continued their political campaign by conducting research on their respective parties with some moving on to the next stage in which they were tasked with creating their own campaign logo and slogan. For literacy, we began looking at the Alberta Drivers Guide in preparation for the Class 7 Learners License Test. Students practiced their vocabulary and note taking skills while reading. On Friday, students began researching recipes and creating shopping lists for a food project in which they will be tasked with hosting a four person lunch through the foods program.

January 14 - January 18

This past week in humanities, students began their political campaigns. Students were assigned a political party based on their responses to a political spectrum survey as well as group dynamic considerations. The first research phase (light research) was due this week. The research guide is in the class D2L brightspace shell.

Students also finished their units on Individual Rights with a presentation of historical or contemporary examples of human rights being violated. Some students presented on Friday. The remaining students will present next week.

January 10-11

Welcome to 2019! For this short week back to school, students worked on multi-media slide show presentations that explore current or past events through the lens of our country's Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The student handout and rubric for this assignment can be found on the course D2L brightspace shell, via the CBE website. Next week, students will finish and present this assignment as well as begin a school wide political campaign as a member of one of Canada's federal political parties.
